The software we learnt to build was predictable. You clicked a button, exactly the same thing happened every time. Well almost. *Incoming jargon* The output was deterministic, meaning the same input always gives you the same output.

Enters AI - Imagine Miranda Priestley getting out of her car in Devil Wears Prada in her catty sun glasses.

You clicked the same button. Something different happened. Again *incoming jargon* The output is probabilistic meaning same inputs, different outputs based on context.

And that one difference breaks almost everything we know about how to build software.

For decades, the SDLC was a linear line: requirements, design, build, test. Agile bent that line into a circle, but the phases still remained sequential. AI threw the whole thing in a blender. Now you're testing while you're building. Maintaining while you're deploying. Discovering something about your data at 11pm that sends you all the way back to the beginning — while the model is already live. So Miranda!
